Licensed Professional Counselor
I believe that all people have an innate drive towards well-being and authenticity throughout their lives. We can become stuck or distressed when we experience our internal and/or external worlds as threatening or unsupportive. Part of the process of therapy is to provide a safe space for you to explore ways of connecting with yourself and your sensations, and to identify and modify barriers to growth, movement, and vibrancy. I believe a therapeutic relationship that is compassionate and curious, where you feel heard and understood, can support this process.
I approach counseling as a collaborative process between my clients and myself, blending techniques as needed to best serve each person and welcoming feedback to increase trust and safety. I integrate several orientations with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed, somatic, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and existential methods. I emphasize attention to the present moment - thoughts, feelings, physical sensations - to support you in developing insight, curiosity, playfulness, and compassion for yourself.
Education:

I received my professional counseling license in January 2019. Since 2010, I have provided a variety of mental and behavioral health services including individual and group therapy, case management, crisis support, residential support, care coordination, and community outreach.
I completed my graduate internship at Outside In in Portland, OR, and since then have worked in a variety of settings including a large professional group practice, an outpatient community mental health clinic, secure residential services, youth and adult houseless services, and medical clinics.
I've been fortunate to work with and serve people from many different backgrounds with multi-faceted lives. I recognize the role of intersecting identities in individuals' experiences, privilege or lack of privilege, and oppression. I strive to be open to and accepting of each individual I meet, both personally and professionally. I am LGBTQIA2+ affirming.
In my free time, I enjoy urban hikes, hanging with my two cats, volunteering at a farm sanctuary, live music, and karaoke. I really strive to reduce the amount of harm caused to other beings and the planet as much as possible. Prior to starting my journey in mental health care, I worked in a lot of retail settings, as a sociopolitical campaign advocate, and at a movie theater.
